Jon Stone’s Syncopators

Jon Stone’s Syncopators are made u of some of jazz’s jewels in the British Jazz Crown! George Huxley, soprano sax, clarinet – one of The Midlands’ best kept secrets! George has been playing for over 70 years and is still wowing audiences with his soaring soprano.  Terry McGrath is an ex-Art teacher and multi-instrumentalist, he plays trombone, saxes and sousaphone. Terry has a jazz rich history with Zenith Hot Stompers, Tommy Burton Quartet, Ken Ingram Syncopators, Ben Cohen Hot 7. Brian Mellor, guitar and banjo, ex Bob Wallis’ Storyville Jazzmen, Monty Sunshine’s Jazz Band and Max Collie’s Rhythm Aces, and a member of the renowned Zenith Hot Stompers who he joined in 1972. He has recorded with Humphrey Lyttelton, Chris Barber and Wally Fawkes. John Edgar is really good at making omelettes in Ab. He also plays the sousaphone excellently in many jazz bands including Sauce City Jazzband and Jazz-á-Jo-Jo. Dave Andrews is a veteran drummer of many Midlands jazz outfits including The Sauce City Jazzband, New Orleans Bump and the like and band leader Jon Stone on trumpet. Another ex-teacher (don’t forget your homework, tie and blazer!. He has played for Denise Lawrence’s band, The Big Bear Stompers, Rascals of Rhythm, The Dragons, Tad Newton’s Jazz Friends, and Gemini.
